High-quality, durable traffic areas in concrete and asphalt - our specialty

The Expressway construction is and remains the main field of activity of HEILIT+WOERNER Bau GmbH. We are the market leader in this field: We lay several million square meters of concrete and asphalt pavements per year on German expressways alone. That putsus among the leading paving contractors.

One of the reasons for this success, and perhaps even the most important one, is the special equipment that we develop, design and build ourselves - tailored to the requirements of our clients and to the wishes of our experienced specialists on the construction sites.

[1] A 71, Suhl-Rohr
Laying a two-layer concrete road pavement on an unbound base using two new HW slipform paversin ISO container size.

[2] A 19, Rostock
Opening of a concrete road pavementon an unbound base to traffic (STSub).
[3] A 19, Rostock
Laying the unbound base (StSub) using a HW Multitalent, a special machine designed and built by us that combines the functions of material spreader, grader, finisher and compactor in a single unit.

[4] A10 Kärnten, Concrete-Mixing-Plant, Container-type
To round out our concept of worldwide cost effectiveness, our specialists have developed powerful concrete mixing plants whose components satisfy thesize requirements for ISO shipping containers.

[5] A 19, Chemnitzer Kreuz
Expressway junctions and intersections, concrete road pavements can also provide a cost-effective solution - on condition that the contractor executing the work meets the stringent requirements for laying, sequence of operations, logistics and schedule deadlines.
[6] New Construction method:
Concrete pavement with just 4 mm thick upper layer concrete for even better, more durable skidding restistance and reduced noise development..

[7] A 13, AK Schönefeld
The A 13 expressway was reneused using the “thick concrete pavement on unbound base” method to enable all of the concrete from the old pavement to be reused. The level roadways considerably increase motoring comfort. We handed over the kilometer 117-124 section four months ahead of the contract deadline.

[8] Highway Tiflis, Georgien
Major contribution to road safety in Germany and abroad: Construction of a concrete protective wall using the slip-forming method.

[9] A 10, Berlin Tempelhof
The 14th section, an extension of the city expresswayring Berlin-Tempelhof-Neukölln, is the first concrete expressway in Berlin since the AVUS in 1914. The 12.50m wide roadway was laid in a single pass, despite the confined space. This project marked the first ever use of the slipform concrete paving method in a tunnel in Berlin.
[11,12,13] A 93, Inntalautobahn
Regarding usage properties (skid resistance, noise reduction) concrete pavements with exposed aggregates are an alternative to longitudinally textured concrete pavements.
Construction progress: Paving, spraying a combined retarding and curing agent, removing the mortar by brushing with a motor-powered steel broom, spraying a curing agent for further curing.

Asphalt

Asphalt road construction is also a part of HEILIT+WOERNER Bau GmbH‘s portfolio.

For asphalt road construction, all modern equipment required for execution of asphalt courses for traffic areas (e.g. asphalt base, asphaltic binder, stone-filled mastic asphalt, asphaltic concrete or bituminous mastic concrete), is available to our specialists. In asphalt construction, too, the service properties and durability of our pavements enjoy a high reputation, both in Germany and abroad.

[1] Frankfurt Expressway Intersection
The entire volume of mastic asphalt at the Frankfurt Expressway Intersection (A 5 and A 3, min. road width 12.75 m) was placed by HW. The contract included 1 million m³ earthwork, 4.5 km duct and sewer construction, 85,000 m² mastic asphalt and 50,000 m² stone-filled mastic asphalt.

[2] A 44, Rhine crossing at Ilverich
In addition to the extensive earthwork (approx. 1.1 million m³ earthmoving work within 47 months) and road paving with stone-filled mastic asphalt (open route and troughs), as well as concrete paving in the tunnel, HW also placed the mastic asphalt on the Rhine bridge.
[3,4] A 10, Ludwigsfelder Damm
Construction of a 5 km long highly stressed expressway section with 3 lanes and shoulder, overall width 15.25 m, with asphalt pavement (construction class SV, 4 cm stone-filled mastic asphalt grade 0/11 S withpolymer-modified bitumen, 8 cm binder course, 18 cm asphalt base course and 15 cm mixed-in-place stabilization course). To achieve a perfectly level surface, HW uses state-of-the-art asphalt finishers and rollers [4].

[3] To safely obtain a high permanent adhesion, HW takes steps in the selection of materials, design of the mix and tests that exceed the regulations and standards. What‘s important is a uniform application of the gritting material upon completion.
