5. Longitudinal concrete beams with single support points

on a water-permeable drainage concrete base (in-grass track)

In-Gras Track I
Mannheim-Karlsruhe, Section Waghäusel, LOS 2

System description

  • Frost blanket in accordance with the required frostproof composition
  • Water-permeable drainage concrete base, designed according to the UIC 71 load pattern
  • Longitudinal beams of reinforced concrete, designed according to the UIC 71 load pattern
  • Use of certified rail fasteners (e.g. IOARG 336 / HILTI)
  • Coarse ballast or oligotrophic grass as fill material, depending on local conditions
  • Use of UIC 60 ribbon rails or contractor‘s rails
  • Sound-absorbing linings and soundproofing equipment as required
  • Tested in field service on the network of DB AG since 09/96
  • Technical certification by EBA dated Dec. 27, 2001

Advantages
  • Only few rigid track system components (drainage concrete base, longitudinal concrete beams and single support point)
  • High track position accuracy because the longitudinal concrete beams can be precisionground subsequently, for instance
  • No random cracks and no interfacial cracks by calculated cracking control
  • Suitable for modernization and new lines
  • Can be used on soil bodies, on bridges and in tunnels
  • Suitable for tramways, rapid transit andstandard-gauge railroads Easy to repair in the event of damage (replacement of damaged support points, repair or replacement by high-early- strength mortar or concrete)
  • No sealing of the surface, thanks to the water-permeable drainage concrete base
  • Attractive visual appearance (above all when filled with oligotrophic grass)
  • Short construction periods Low capital expenditure

References: HEILIT+WOERNER Bau GmbH has laid more than 250 kilometers of rigid track
